Hogan Lovells has announced the hire of Steve Argeris as counsel to its Corporate & Finance practice, boosting in particular its M&A offering and industry expertise in the sports sector.
Based in both New York and Washington D.C., Steve Argeris most recently served as Vice President and General Counsel at Tepper Sports & Entertainment (a.k.a. His experience spans from government affairs, risk management, strategic communications, crisis management, stadium and facility development and sponsorships.
His appointment builds on a series of hires to the M&A and Private Equity groups in London [Ed Harris and Leanne Moezi], US [Adam Brown], Shanghai [Don Williams, Tony Mou and Cheng Xu], Frankfurt [Nikolai Sokolov] and more recently in Paris [Matthieu Grollemund and Hélène Parent] as well as the addition of leading New York Capital Markets partner, Richard Aftanas.
Global Head of Sports, Matthew Eisler, said Argeris’ appointment “is part of our firm strategy to grow our Sports, Media and Entertainment practice. He holds a deep knowledge of the sports industry and a wide portfolio of client representative experience. I am excited to welcome Steve to our growing team in private practice after such an expansive career in-house.”
Argeris graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in history and Afro-American and African Studies, and was a sportswriter for several newspapers, including the Washington Post, before earning a JD and MBA at NYU.
