Nov 18, 2011

Mathew D. Pace, who has more than 20 years of professional experience in the sports industry, has joined Arent Fox in its New York office.

Formerly at Herrick, Feinstein LLP, Pace has hands-on industry experience in a broad range of sports business matters, including team acquisitions and sales, sponsorship, licensing and promotional agreements, joint venture activities and digital rights and other sports media issues.

Rich Brand, who heads the firm’s sports practice and is based in Arent Fox’s Washington, DC office, said the firm was “extremely excited” to have Pace on board.

“Matt’s diverse practice will enable our already considerable sports practice to expand into new areas of sports law and, at the same time, add depth to our existing core strengths,” said Brand. “With Matt joining Jared Bartie in our New York office and Maidie Oliveau’s highly regarded sports practice in our Los Angeles office, as well as our substantial sports practice in our Washington, DC office, Arent Fox has one of the most experienced, dynamic national sports practices in the United States.”

In addition to Herrick, Pace has held numerous other posts, including executive director of Major League Lacrosse and the executive vice president of business development and general counsel for GM EventWorks, a company responsible for managing the sports and entertainment alliances for General Motors.

Pace currently serves as co-chair of the sports section of the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law (EASL) section of the New York State Bar Association. He is a graduate of the Emory University School of Law and earned his undergraduate degree from Trinity College.
