The Cleveland-based law firm of Buckley King has announced the addition of a sports, entertainment and media law practice “focused exclusively on supporting the business and legal needs of these niche industries in Northeast Ohio.”

Specifically, the practice “is dedicated to matters involving professional and amateur sports, film and television, intellectual property, the Internet, music, production legal and media, including digital media, online gaming and entertainment software,” according to the firm.

Richard J. (Ricky) Volante and Sydney Elizabeth Victor have joined the firm to lead the practice.

Both attorneys have and will continue to represent professional and amateur sports organizations, teams, owners, sports-related entities, agents, as well as athletes, coaches and executives. They also work directly with film executives, performing artists, producers, production companies, promoters, musicians, studios, broadcasters, and Internet and technology companies. In addition, they assist financial institutions, private equity, family offices, and other investment groups interested in investing in these industries.

Brent M. Buckley, the firm’s managing partner, noted that part of the decision to launch the practice area was related to the attorneys’ “relentless drive and passion for assisting those in the sports and entertainment industries.”
