Law Firm Brings Claim Against Former Team Physician for U.S.A. Gymnastics

Mar 3, 2017

The Abood Law Firm has filed a complaint on behalf of Jane ALF-1 Doe, alleging that she was a victim of the sexual assault by Dr. Larry Nassar, former team physician for the U.S.A. gymnastics team and former faculty member at Michigan State University’s (MSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine.

“We hold MSU in high regard. These allegations are deeply troubling and we hope we can work with MSU in assisting to identify the victims,” said Carrie J. Koerber, lead attorney in the case. “Once all the victims have been identified, we expect MSU will act swiftly in bringing this matter to resolution by recognizing the wrongs that were committed and attempting to make the victims whole.”

Abood Law Firm partners Andrew P. Abood and Jeffrey Lance Abood are co-counsel on the case.

“Ultimately, our investigation, if needed, will focus on evaluating the decisions that were made and when they were made,” said Abood, founding partner of Abood Law Firm and a former member of the MSU men’s golf team. “I don’t think anyone at this point can claim, based on what we know Dr. Nassar was doing, that he was engaging in medical treatment.”

Koerber has been working for the Abood Law Firm for ten years and is a graduate of MSU College of Business, and MSU College of Law. She is also a former member of the MSU varsity softball team.

The Abood Law Firm has also been involved in the Flint Water Crisis litigation.
