Federal Judge Rules Eastern Michigan University Must Reinstate Women’s Tennis and Softball Programs to Comply with Title IX

A federal judge from Eastern District of Michigan (EMU) has ruled that Eastern Michigan University must reinstate its women’s tennis and softball programs by the fall of 2019 in order to comply with Title IX.   The ruling comes less than a year after EMU eliminated four sports programs — Women’s Softball, Women’s Tennis, Men’s Swimming, and Men’s Wrestling. At the time, EMU President James Smith said the move was “necessary” due to budget issues and would result in a savings
