Starnes Davis Florie LLP has announced the hiring of Daniel Feig, who will join its Collegiate Sports Group.
Feig’s practice will be focused on higher education, particularly collegiate sports and representation in NCAA compliance matters, internal investigations, and Title IX reviews, as well as Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) Collective reviews, audits, and organizational improvements.
Prior to joining Starnes, Feig served as the Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics at the University of South Carolina Upstate for five years, during which the department experienced its three most successful years in its history competitively in the conference commissioner’s cup, multiple facility improvements helped advance the department, and he served on a number of NCAA regulatory committees.
Prior to his time at USC Upstate, Feig was the second in command at the University of Southern Mississippi where he served as Executive Associate Athletic Director (2013 – 2018). His prior stops in collegiate athletics include a stint as the Director of Compliance at the University of Alabama (2011- 2013) and the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Arkansas State University (2009 – 2011). Feig started his career as an Attorney in Birmingham for six years, where his practice consisted primarily of civil litigation defense. Throughout his career in collegiate athletics, Feig has regularly been a featured presenter at NCAA Regional Rules seminars and the annual NACDA Convention. Feig earned a Bachelor of Arts from Birmingham-Southern College in 2000, where he was a member of the men’s soccer team that earned Final Four spots in three of his playing years. He obtained his Law Degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2003.
