Sports Lawyers to Gather for the National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School Annual Conference

The National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School will host its annual conference on Friday, Oct. 19 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The theme for the conference will be “Current Legal and Business Issues Affecting International and Professional Sports.”
 
Among the topics that will be addressed are current legal and business issues in Olympic and international dispute resolution, corruption in international sports, sports facility development, and current legal and business issues in professional sports.
 
Speakers will include Mary K. Braza, Partner, Chair, Sports Industry Team, and Member, Management Committee, Foley & Lardner LLP; Greg Heller, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Atlanta Braves; David Howman, Director General, World Anti-Doping Agency; Mike Lufrano, Executive Vice President, Community Affairs/General Counsel, Chicago Cubs; Dr. Dirk-Reiner Martens, Principal, Martens Rechtsanwälte, Munich, Germany, and Legal advisor to the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and other national and international sports federations; Ricky Olczyk, Assistant General Manager & Director of Hockey Operations/Legal Affairs, Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club; Irwin Raij, partner and co-chair Sports Industry Team, member, Government & Public Policy, Real Estate and Finance & Financial Institutions Practices, Foley & Lardner, LLP; and Cliff Michael Stein, Vice President of Football Administration and General Legal Counsel, Chicago Bears; among many others.
 
The conference, which costs $150, will run from 9 am until 5 pm. There will be a continental breakfast, lunch (including the presentation of the Master of the Game Award to David Howman the Director General of WADA), and a post conference reception. Approximately 6.5 CLE credits will be applied for from the Wisconsin Board of Bar Examiners. The NSLI will also assist attendees with CLE applications to other states.
