Dr. Michael Ross, Department Chair of the Sport Management program at Shorter University, has been named Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) at the university. In addition to being chair, Dr. Ross also serves as a Board of Commissioners member for the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). He is also a Senior Writer for the Journal of NCAA Compliance. Dr. Ross earned his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in History from Piedmont University while playing college basketball there and previously at Georgia College and State University. He earned his Master of Science (M.S.) in Kinesiology with a focus in Sport Management from the University of Georgia. He is a graduate of Troy University with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Sport Management. Prior to entering higher education, Dr. Ross served as an assistant high school athletic director and worked for the Atlanta Hawks organization. In addition to these roles, he founded a youth sport development company which focuses on skill development and overall functional movement training for athletes ranging from recreation age to the professional level of sport.
