International Olympic Committee Strengthens Its Stance on Political Statements, Coming Up on the Wrong Side of History, Again

During the 2016 season, pro quarterback Colin Kaepernick sparked a national argument by taking a knee during the National Football League pregame ritual of playing the national anthem. Kaepernick’s symbolic, unspoken protest was a way for him to create awareness of various social issues surrounding the continued subjugation of black people, and other people of color, in this country.
