Sports Lawyers Association To Host First-Ever Fall Symposium on November 7 in New Orleans

Sep 6, 2024

The Sports Lawyers Association (SLA), a non-profit, international, professional organization whose common goal is furthering the understanding, advancement and ethical practice of sports law, will host its first-ever Fall Forum on November 7 at the New Orleans Marriott.

The theme of the Symposium is “Tech and Sports: Data, Deals and Decisions.”

“This topic couldn’t be more timely or relevant,” said Layth Gafoor, a Partner at Lucentem Sports & Entertainment Law in Toronto. “As technology continues to revolutionize the sports industry, it’s crucial for legal and business professionals to stay at the forefront of these changes.”

The event gets underway at 8 a.m., though SLA members and others are encouraged to arrive a day early to participate in a Pre-Symposium Gathering on November 6 at a place and time still to be determined.

To register for the event, go here. Early bird discount is available until September 1. SLA has negotiated a special room rate at the Marriott. To ensure a room on property for the Symposium, reserve the room by September 1, 2024 by 5 pm EST.

The Symposium, which was planned by Stacey Blackwell, Fall Symposium Program Chair and Director of Awards and Special Projects at the NCAA, and Patrick Reilly, Fall Symposium Program Co-Chair and a Partner at Faegre Drinker, features the following tentative agenda (subject to change):
