The SRLA Bulletin becomes a monthly benefit for members of SRLA, which represents professors and instructors who teach sports law at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Hackney Publications (HP), the nation’s leading publisher of sports law periodicals, has announced a partnership with the Sports and Recreation Law Association (SRLA) to produce its monthly newsletter for its membership.
SRLA is a highly respected association in higher education, which represents professors and instructors who teach sports law at the undergraduate and graduate level.
“We already have an amazing annual conference and the insightful, peer-reviewed Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport,” said Dr. Natasha Brison, SRLA’s president and associate professor at Texas A&M University. “What we were missing is a better way to build community among members and share their pedagogical insights as sports law professors.”

In Hackney Publications, SRLA found a long-time partner, that consistently promotes the association and annually provides a $500 stipend to a student who is recognized in the graduate writing competition.
“We felt comfortable working with HP and its team, given its extensive experience in producing periodicals. HP also has a sister marketing company, Hackney Communications, that can help us communicate our value to professors and instructors who may not be aware of SRLA,” said Dr. Brison.
HP Publisher Holt Hackney noted that SRLA has a tremendous value proposition for professors, which has heretofore been “unrealized.”
“Sports law is becoming more and more ingrained in every aspect of the sports industry,” said Hackney. “SRLA will have a vital role in preparing tomorrow’s sports industry executives for successful careers.”
