Cynthia C. Hogan has been named Senior Advisor to Commissioner Roger Goodell, the NFL has announced.
Hogan will provide counsel to Commissioner Goodell and other executives on strategic league initiatives.
“I am excited to welcome Cynthia back to the NFL,” said Commissioner Goodell. “Cynthia was a well-respected executive during her time with us and has a wealth of experience on a variety of matters that are important to the NFL, the clubs, players and fans. I look forward to working with her and our executive team to further grow the NFL in all areas.”
Most recently, Hogan served as Apple’s Vice President for Public Policy and Government Affairs for the Americas. In 2014, Cynthia joined the NFL, where she served first as Senior Vice President and then Executive Vice President of Public Policy and Government Affairs. Hogan developed and implemented the league’s public policy and legislative initiatives and worked with NFL clubs on local and state issues. Prior to joining the NFL in 2014, Hogan served as Deputy Assistant to President Barack Obama and Counsel to Vice President Joe Biden as well as Chief Counsel, Staff Director, and Counsel for Constitutional Law for the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary from 1991 to 1996.
From 1985-1991, Hogan was an associate at Williams & Connolly. Her practice focused on federal grand jury investigations and litigation. She also was law clerk to the Honorable Edward Cahn, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Hogan holds a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and is a graduate of Oberlin College.
