Horizon League Commissioner Julie Roe Lach has announced the appointment of Jessica Kumke as Associate Commissioner of Governance, Compliance and Legal Strategies. As the Associate Commissioner, Kumke will serve as the staff lead for all League governance including oversight of articles of incorporation, operating regulations and bylaws as well as direct the League’s Compliance program. In addition, she will serve as the League’s contact for NCAA Legal matters. Kumke came to the Horizon League after eight years at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she most recently served as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Enrollment Services. She joined Milwaukee in 2013 as an Assistant AD before transitioning to Associate AD in 2018. Kumke started her career at the University of Wyoming where she spent five years, beginning as a Compliance Assistant before being promoted to Director of Compliance in 2011. Kumke earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2005 and her JD degree from the Marquette University Law School in 2008.
