Arent Fox LLP has announced the addition of sports law attorney Jennifer Pogorelec O’Sullivan as partner in the New York office. O’Sullivan joins Arent Fox from Hand Baldachin & Amburgey LLP, where she led the firm’s Sports and Entertainment group.
The former commissioner of the Women’s Professional Soccer league (WPS), O’Sullivan is an advisor to sports leagues, teams, media and technology companies, investors, promoters, hospitality companies and sports, entertainment and lifestyle agencies on an array of issues critical to their business.
At Arent Fox, O’Sullivan will continue to counsel sports and entertainment clients on issues ranging from mergers and acquisitions and other transactions to sponsorships, advertising, media matters, league formations and restructurings, and all forms of commercial agreements, including licensing and promotional agreements, venue, vendor, and other special events agreements.
“Jennifer is a sought-after advisor in the sports industry for good reason,” said San Francisco Managing Partner Richard L. Brand, who leads the firm’s Sports group. “Having worked in the sports industry for more than two decades, including as a league commissioner and in-house counsel, Jennifer brings incredible experience and perspective.”
Prior to joining private practice, O’Sullivan served as general counsel of RSE Ventures, a sports and entertainment venture company, CEO and commissioner of WPS, and Vice President, Legal & Labor Affairs with the Arena Football League. She has also held positions at the National Football League and the Interpublic Group of Companies. While in-house, O’Sullivan was responsible for overseeing corporate, legal and business affairs at each organization.
Outside of her direct involvement in the front offices of sports franchises, O’Sullivan is a current member of the Sports Lawyers’ Association and former member of both the National Board of Directors for Women in Sports and Events and the Sports Committee of the Association of the City Bar of New York. Ms. O’Sullivan earned a JD from the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America, and a BA from the University of Richmond.
