The Golden State Group, the corporate entity that includes the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, has named veteran sports and tech executive Woodie Dixon, Jr. as its new Chief Legal Officer. The appointment was announced earlier in September. Dixon will be responsible for overseeing all legal affairs for the enterprise, which spans its commercial, business contract, litigation, and real estate matters. He will report to Golden State Group President and Chief Operating Officer Brandon Schneider. Schneider commented that Dixon brings valuable leadership experience and a diverse background to the Golden State Group. Prior to this role, Dixon was Chief Legal Officer at Chegg Inc. and held positions in the sports industry, including General Counsel for the Pac-12 Conference and the Kansas City Chiefs. At the Pac-12, he was involved in significant deals like a $3 billion media rights agreement and the establishment of the Pac-12 Networks. Dixon is a Harvard Law School graduate and takes over from David Kelly, who is now general counsel for the National Basketball Players Association.
