O’Melveny has announced a key partner addition to its Washington D.C. office with the arrival of Jeffrey Gordon, a versatile litigator and commercial lawyer. He was previously a partner with Hunton Andrews Kurth.

Gordon’s wide-ranging practice encompasses regulatory proceedings, investigations, trial work and strategic counseling across such sectors as health and life sciences, financial services, and technology.

He also has extensive experience in the sports-related litigation, making him a valuable addition to O’Melveny’s Sports Industry practice, which advises clients in professional football, baseball, soccer, basketball and also e-sports. As O’Melveny notes in its announcement, “Gordon arrives at a time of unprecedented disruption for the sports industry, spurred by both the COVID-19 pandemic and the racial justice movement. With years of sports litigation experience and deep relationships with professional teams and media networks, Gordon will further strengthen O’Melveny’s acclaimed Sports Group.”

“Jeff has worked on many high-profile sports litigation matters in recent years, and that is just one facet of his versatile practice,” said O’Melveny chair Bradley J. Butwin. “Jeff also embodies the values of collaboration, commitment to client service, and dedication to community that set O’Melveny apart. It’s a pleasure to welcome him to the firm.”

A longtime mentor to minority lawyers, Gordon is also an active pro bono advocate for fair housing and tenants’ rights groups in Washington and Baltimore, and for inmates challenging alleged violations of their religious and civil rights.

He earned his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
