Former MLB team executive Fred Rivera has announced the official launch of Rivera Group, a sports business advisory firm providing strategic support for investors, operators, and professional and amateur sports organizations.
Leveraging the power of sports to drive economic and cultural impact, the firm provides practical guidance in key areas of sports business, including ownership strategy, operational optimization, revenue growth, sports-anchored real estate development, and community engagement.
“I bring deep industry knowledge, decades of executive, legal, and corporate board director experience, and a lifelong passion for sports to each client partnership,” Rivera said. “I’m excited to help clients leverage the power of sports to unlock opportunities and drive meaningful results.”
Rivera spent eight years as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel for the Seattle Mariners, serving on the senior leadership team overseeing business strategy and operations. His portfolio included ownership and corporate transactions, people and culture, legal and government relations, and community investment. He also spearheaded the team’s real estate development strategy, leading to the launch of an innovative entertainment development known as The Boxyard. Rivera served on the board of directors and supported oversight of the Mariners-owned regional sports network, ROOT SPORTS.
Before joining the Mariners, Rivera built a distinguished 25-year career as an executive leader and attorney. He served as Managing Partner of the largest law firm office in the Pacific Northwest and held a senior leadership and corporate officer role at a Fortune 50 company. Rivera has significant board director experience with public, private, and non-profit organizations.
