Army West Point Athletics Announces Sports Lawyer Alic’a Oliver as Deputy Director of Athletics, CAO

The Army West Point Athletic Association (AWPAA) has announced the hiring of Alic’a Oliver as the new Deputy Director of Athletics, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

The Deputy Director of Athletics, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is a senior level executive overseeing the Army West Point Athletic Association internal, day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, policy implementation, and alignment with AWPAA’s Fruits of Victory strategic plan. This role is responsible for bridging the gap between high-level strategy and operational reality with direct oversight of the Human Resources, NCAA Compliance, Risk Management, Insurance and Finance departments. The CAO will serve as coordinator for the AWPAA Board of Directors.

Oliver joins the Black Knights after serving in various leadership roles at the University of North Texas since her tenure there began in 2018. Previously, she served as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Impact, bringing a strong leadership background to West Point to help advance the goals and priorities outlined in the department’s Fruits of Victory strategic plan.

Oliver has substantial national leadership experience as she currently serves as President of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC).

Prior to her time with the Mean Green, Oliver spent more than three years as the University of Tennessee’s Director of Compliance as well as serving as a Compliance Coordinator at Kansas State University.

After graduating from the University of Texas, Oliver earned her law degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, serving as a legal extern with the LSU Athletics Office of Compliance.
